Deliberation in Wolmirstedt (Sachsen-Anhalt) on democracy, identity, discrimination, gender equality and homosexuality

On invitation of Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (Kreisverband Börde) and Integrationsbündnis Wolmirstedt we had a great workshop on Saturday, July 6, in Wolmirstedt (Sachsen-Anhalt). The workshop (10 AM – 5 PM) was made possible by the program Demokratie Leben! of the Bundesministerium für Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend. We discussed democracy (the need of citizens to discuss together the values that bind and the need to deliberate together the main themes of elections before casting a vote), identity (what is it, how does it develop, can it change?), discrimination (what is it, why do people discriminate and how, and what to do against it?), gender equality (what explains the vast gender inequality in Germany?) and homosexuality (how do people become gay, why it is not a disease, why couples of the same sex can form a family able to raise children). Philipp did a great job discussing identity and homosexuality. The newspaper of Sachsen-Anhalt, Die Volksstimme, reported about the event:
