Ali Ghaznawi was born in 1988 in Kabul. He studied computer science and is a graphic designer and web developer.
In 2007, Ali was introduced to the world of computers and became fascinated with graphic design software. His passion led him to pursue training in graphic design and web development. After completing his studies, he launched his professional career by establishing an advertising company, focusing on graphic design and web development. Eventually, he entered the media industry and secured a contract with a private television network in Kabul.
Ali also collaborated as a volunteer with several non-profit organizations in Kabul, as he is passionate about community service. He always emphasizes that everyone should engage in volunteering to help improve society.
Additionally, he ran a weekly publication in Kabul, covering and printing topics related to politics, society, economy, and culture.
Due to the deteriorating security situation, he was forced to leave Afghanistan in late 2015 and migrated to Ukraine. There, he continued his education in programming. He settled in Odessa and collaborated with an international company specializing in digital marketing. Additionally, he launched his own online business, providing website design and e-commerce services.
In 2022, when Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, Ali once again had to flee. With only a backpack containing a few sets of clothes, his laptop, and essential documents, he embarked on another migration journey and arrived in Germany.
In Germany, he learned the language up to the B2 level. He decided to restart his professional career and is now working towards establishing a new online business.
Ali is a Fellow at Social Science Works and currently develops and maintains the websites of Social Science Works and Hans Blokland Works. You can read Ali’s interviews with Social Science Works here.
